A 14th century castle in the village of Baginton, Warwickshire in the English Midlands. It now stands in ruins, and this website is dedicated to those volunteers and benefactors who are conserving what remains for future generations.
The remains have been consolidated and the whole site opened up to expose other historic features. An education visitor centre has been built, a picnic area added and woodland walks constructed for the many visitors who have visited the castle since it was opened to the public in 2009. More attractions and children's activities are added each year.
The castle is open Weekends and Bank Holidays from April till October.
Opening times: 10:30am till 4pm. (last entry 15:30)

The castle site has many
woodland walks, along mowed paths, that allow visitors to immerse in the quiet countryside. Some paths also follow the course of the River Sowe. The site is a haven for wildlife, including wild flowers and many species of
birds, butterflies and moths.
Paths also lead to two
ponds at the edge of the site, which are believed to have been used to store fish by the inhabitants of the Saxon village that now lies buried under the site.
For those interested in the Alvis automobile company the site also contains the remains of a development
test track for armoured personnel carriers, which was active throughout the Second World War.

Explore Woodland Walks
Bring a picnic
We have a large area overlooking the castle which is a perfect place for a picnic, with rustic picnic tables and plenty of space for the children to run around.
Also in the area is a slice of an ancient fallen tree for the children to count rings to see its age.
Summerhouse
A small square summerhouse was built behind the castle in the early 18th century. The area in front of the summerhouse was known as the ‘Bowling Green’.
The summerhouse was originally two-storeyed. Since the late 19th century its condition deteriorated until only the base remained.
A partial restoration was completed in 2023.
Meet our Bagot Goats
Come and make friends with our flock of Bagot goats.
This ancient breed dates back to ancient times when the castle was thriving. They are very hardy and, like most goats, they are very inquisitive.
All our animals are friendly and used to people at close quarters. They have become great favourites with our younger visitors.
